Despite reading lots of personal development books that had told me for years, “you need to have a morning routine before you start your day” I’ve really struggled to wake up early enough to get my mind in the right place.
A couple of months ago I started to notice that I was extremely stressed each day, yelling at my son and reacting to every little thing that went wrong.
When I complained about this to my therapist she asked how I started my mornings.
I said with lots of shame, “I roll out of bed and go right into the day trying to take care of my son and run my coaching business at the same time.”
She told me: “How you start your morning is how you’ll continue your day. If you wake up stressed then you’ll feel stressed in everything else you do all day long.”
I decided it was time to finally prioritize my morning routine as an important part of my mental health care.
After only 2 weeks of waking up an hour earlier each morning and creating some positive habits in the morning - I’m pleased to announce that my days have been so much less stressful and I already feel like a better Mom and even more successful life coach.
